Thanks to our friends up north!!

Canada has issued a 2006 Commemorative Pink Ribbon quarter. These are in current circulation.

See them at the Royal Canadian Mint web site:

Halo Janice...

I could not get it to open.
Maybe someone is sleeping. Not me.

I wonder if they are doing this, like the usa is doing the bc postage stamp?

I have seen the coin when it first came out.
I saw it being bid on ebay for 15.00 start out price.

Nice to see your name here. How are you?

love, jules

Hi Jules,

Long time, no "talk". The link does work but loads slowly. Could this be the problem? If you can't get the link to work, just try typing in the browser www.mint.ca

I think that will pretty much take you to the same place as the link that I had posted earlier. Then, in THEIR search engine, type "breast cancer". That should take you to the page that has all the BC info. To purchase something, you'll probably have to register/sign in. Hubby, John, ordered a roll through eBay before he found the link that I told you about. We actually paid a bit more on eBay (sigh).

I last gave the board an update on me around the end of last year. John was losing his job of 33 years, effective the end of January. Toward the end of April, he found a job as a Computer Help Desk rep for pharmaceutical reps. It's about a 33% pay cut and is only temporary. It's due to run out shortly, but we're hoping that he'll be made permanent.

My YOUNGER brother had a triple by-pass in March. Until that time, he wasn't even aware that he HAD heart trouble. He'd always been very careful with his health as our dad had died from heart disease. Unfortunately, the genetics appear to be too strong for him to overcome. He's recovered nicely, though, and went back to work three weeks after surgery.

My 87-year old mom had been exhibiting memory symptoms that the family was concerned about. So, in May, she had an MRI. She has vascular dementia (hardening of the arteries). She still lives on her own although my brother is temporarily living with her until he can buy a house. She requires more supervision as she continues to refuse to take meds (this is a long, ongoing problem). If she had taken her high blood pressure medication originally when she was first diagnosed with HBP, this problem could probably have been avoided. I try hard not to be angry.

In June, I spent a week or so in Dallas with my 89-year old MIL while my SIL and her family went on vacation. Upon my return I finished helping mom entertain her 90-year sister from New Orleans. I got my aunt back on the plane a few days later to go back to N.O. (She had been concerned that I wouldn't get back in time to do this ~ sigh.)

One of my friends suggested that I should look for employment in the caregiving field. I laughed and told her it would be a little like a mailman taking a walk on his day off.

When I got back from Dallas, I started looking for employment again. I got called for an interview with a local college as an assistant for the adult studies program. This would be a "part time" position. That would entail working Mon-Fri evenings and a fair amount of Saturday mornings (sigh). (Probably 30-35 hours a week ~ At least these hours would be fairly compatible with John's as he currently works evenings.) We'll see what happens.

Okay, that's about all that's new with me. I bet you're sorry that you asked (LOL)! How are YOU?

Love,

Janice

Try this link as well:

http://www.mint.ca/bcc/en-CA/collectibles.aspx

A lady from another board just posted this comment about the first link:

"To get straight to the coins if you refuse (as I do) to be made to use Flash (what a nerve!) go to":

the above link.

I'm not sure how "Flash" plays a part in this nor do I really know what it is, but maybe that's the explanation as to why the link didn't work for you.

Love,

Janice
